Food in Italy

Italian food varies depending on the region you are in. The most common and widly known food to Italy is pizza. Other foods popular in Italy are pasta, rissoto, curred meats and gelto (icecream). They also have great breads, wine, cheeses, and olive which in turn makes great olive oil. Italians take great pride in the food and only use the best of ingrediants. They use alot of fresh vegtables in thier cooking. Italians are known for thier fresh pasta and thin pizza bases. The is pasta made from scratch but includes eggs. It has a richer taste and is more smooth then dry pasta. It is called fresh pasts. Italian pizzas are always made on a thin base. They can be cooked three different ways. In a woodburming oven, a sotne oven or a normal oven. Each way gives a different flavour to the pizza. The italians eat their main meal in the middle of the day. Usually this meal consists of a large number of courses. In the north they would tend to use more butter and flour in thier ooking where as in the south they tend to usr olive oil and tomatoes and pasta. Rissoto and polenta are also more commenly used in the north. http://www.lifeinitaly.com/food/italian-regional-food.asp and www.lifeinitaly.com/.../medium/Prosciutto.jpg
